How Will New Tariffs Impact The Price Of Wine & Spirits in Downtown Minneapolis?

We called our daughter, Ann last week to wish her a Happy 39th Birthday and were told that she didn’t have time to talk to us because she was in meetings to discuss her company's reaction to the proposed 25% tariffs on wine. Ann is a senior brand manager for a large wine importing company.

We are pretty sure that you have all heard about the proposed tariffs by now, and are wondering what the impact might be on the prices of wine and spirits in our downtown Minneapolis store. Let's see if we can help...

Let's start with Scotch Whisky. I don't "get it"???? Scotch comes from Scotland. Scotland is part of the UK. "Brexit" goes into effect on October 31st. Effective that date, the United Kingdom will not be part of the European Union...so why include single malt scotch, but NOT blended scotch? So the duty on Glenlivet goes up, but the duty on Chivas Regal doesn’t? Furthermore, Irish Whiskey from the Republic of Ireland is included, but NOT when distilled in Northern Ireland. So, no increase on the duty on Jameson. Go figure??

Apparently, all liqueurs and cordials from the EU are included in the tariffs. Campari announced today that they are considering moving the production of Aperol and Campari to the US. Go Figure??

Wine under 14% that is not carbonated and shipped in containers smaller than 2 liter containers is subject to the tariff. Champagne, Cava, Prosecco and 3 liter bag in a box are all exempt. Go figure??

Now, here is the part that is interesting...assuming the tariffs ARE enforced...it is an AD VALOREM tariff. That means that the tariff is imposed on the value that the European producer receives for his product. Any part of the cost of shipping, importer's profit, distributor's costs and profits, and retailer's costs and profits is NOT subject to the tariff. As we speak, every European producer and his importer is figuring out how to shift portions of the price of all these wines and spirits to the United States.

In other words, DON’T PANIC!! The price of your favorite imported adult beverage is not going up as much as you think it might. Also, most of these guys stop shipping around November 1st because of the increased cost to protect wine from freezing, so most wine from the EU will be shipped before the tariff goes into effect.

Anyhow, enough talk about price….let’s get to taste! So on that note, we would like to once again extend to you an invitation to an upcoming wine tasting featuring Dreyfus Ashby, happening on Tuesday, October 22nd. Call us at 612 339-4040, or send us an email at info@1010wws.com, for reservations. The cost of the event is $25, which can be used toward the purchase of anything that night.

Find the Perfect Craft Beer, Wine & Spirits To Celebrate The Minnesota Twins Return to the Playoffs!

Damn Yankees” the Broadway musical, won nominated for nine Tony Awards in 1956 and won seven of them. While we don’t believe anyone in the Minnesota Twins organization (successors to the Washington Senators depicted in the show) sold his soul to the Devil, we are hopeful for the same result in the playoffs that start tonight! You will want to have a bar fully stocked with craft beer, wine and spirits to watch the games, and, of course, Champagne to celebrate the Twins’ victory. As usual, we at 1010 Washington Wine & Spirits in downtown Minneapolis are here to help you select the perfect adult beverages to help get you through the exciting series.

Apart from the Twins making the playoffs, the Gophers are undefeated and two games away from “bowl eligible”. The Timberwolves are about to start their season. The Wild started just last night, and while it was a tough outing, there is a lot of season left to play. As for the Vikings - the team is looking for answers… we hope they find them!

With the advent of Autumn, the special events at 1010 Washington Wine & Spirits just keep on coming.

Just less than week from today is October 10th. That’s 10/10, so it is OUR DAY! We are going to celebrate the day with an absolutely FABULOUS FREE TASTING from 4 PM to 7PM. The fabulous and talented Mitch Zavada from The Wine Company has picked out half a dozen wines that are so good that we NEVER put them on tastings…unless the occasion is very special, and this one is. Be sure to join him!

October 22nd we are hosting a tasting of Burgundy and Oregon Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays from the Maison Joseph Drouhin along with a few other fun things. Everyone who tastes wine at 1010 Washington Wine & Spirits knows my bias in this duel of terroir, but we are going to make it easy for everyone to taste the difference that soil and climate make in the taste and texture of these noble varieties. Who knows? I might change my opinion! (Editor's Note: Fat Chance!). To reserve your place at this tasting, call us at 612 339-4040 or drop us an e mail at info@1010wws.com. The cost of admission is $25.00, but should you buy some wine at the tasting, that charge is refunded.

The NEXT DAY, October 23rd, our FALL SALE begins! The sale lasts until November 10th. The whole store will be a veritable sea of pink special tags as we offer the best prices of the season just in time for Holiday entertaining.

Watch our Instagram and Facebook pages – along with this site - for more excitement from us. You can also stay in the know by subscribing to our newsletter at the bottom of this page.

As always, thank you. Without you and your support we wouldn’t be here. We appreciate your business, your friendship and your advice and counsel. Thanks for reading this!

Stock Up For October With These Great Wine Specials!

October in Minnesota, for many of us, means getting that last bit of time outdoors before the other shoe drops and the inevitable winter comes. So while the roads in downtown Minneapolis are still clear of snow and ice, we encourage you to visit our store soon and stock up on wine we have on special!

See our newest list of wine specials, below. Remember, too, that good weather, bad weather – or anything in-between – we are planning for a special wine tasting featuring Dreyfus Ashby this October 22nd. Call us at 612 339-4040, or send us an email at info@1010wws.com, for reservations. The cost of the event is $25, which can be used toward the purchase of anything that night.

Wine Specials

Domaine Lafage Bastide Miraflors Rouge 2016
Languedoc-Roussillon, France
94 Points Jed Dunnuck
A wine that almost always over-delivers, the 2016 Côtes du Roussillon Bastide Miraflors is, I suspect, the finest vintage for this cuvée to date (it’s in the same league as the off-the-charts 2015). A blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Grenache from Lesquerde and Saint Martin de Fenouillet (both in the northern part of the Roussillon), aged all in older barrels and concrete tanks, it boasts rockstar notes of ripe blackberry fruits, spice, dried garrigue, and hints of chocolate. Possessing a full-bodied, layered mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and sensational purity, it’s another one of those values that almost seems too good to be true.
Sale $14.99/bottle
Reg. $16.99/bottle

Clos du Mont Olivet Cotes du Rhone Vielle Vignes
Rhone, France
92 Points Jed Dunnuck
Showing terrific fruit and silky, elegant textures, solid complexity and plenty to love. Made mostly from Grenache planted in sandy soils, this terrific barrel sample offers full-bodied notes of strawberries, garrigue, and pepper, with a beautiful elegance and purity on the palate. Readers looking for a traditionally made, high-quality Côtes du Rhône can’t go wrong with this.
Sale $19.99/bottle
Reg. $24.99/bottle

Willamette Valley Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir 2016
Willamette Valley, Oregon
92 Points Wine Advocate
The pale to medium ruby-purple 2016 Pinot Noir Estate has a wonderful open nose of black cherry, blueberry pie, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, warm earth and autumn leaves with pretty red and blue flower perfume. Light to medium-bodied, it fills the mouth with black and blue fruits layers plus oodles of spice and flower notes, with fine, grainy tannins and mouthwatering acidity, finishing very long and layered.
Sale $28.99/bottle
Reg. $34.99/bottle

Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet 2016
Sonoma County, California
90 Points Wine Advocate
Blended of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot aged in 30 new French oak for 16 months, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley features crème de cassis, Black Forest cake and wild blueberry scents with suggestions of wild sage, black soil and tapenade. Full-bodied with a wonderfully plush, fine-grained frame, it has a lively line cutting through the densely packed fruit, finishing long.
Sale $29.99/bottle
Reg. $39.99/bottle

Roaga Opera Prima XVII
Piedmont, Italy
Opera Prima was created in the late 1970’s by Alfredo Roagna with the idea of assembling great vintages of Nebbiolo for Barbaresco in order to build a wine that can boast beauty from an array of different vintages. This release has some bottle age and is the best mature Nebbiolo we have tasted in recent memory. Do not miss this opportunity to drink a beautifully mature nebbiolo that is absolutely singing from a storied producer.
Sale $49.99/bottle
Reg. $59.99/bottle

Wine Cellar Selections!!!!

Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva Paje 2014
Piedmont, Italy
96 Points, Vinous
Beams of minerality and salinity cut through a core of dense, dark fruit in the 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Pajè. Deeply pitched and tannic, the 2014 is a super-classic, youthfully austere Barbaresco that is going to need time to be at its best. Readers should expect a firm, structured Barbaresco. The finish alone is striking. Crushed rocks, minerals, sage and lavender add nuance to this chiseled, finely sculpted Barbaresco. Readers who can find it should not hesitate.
$74.99/bottle (3 bottles)

Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva Rabaja 2014
Piedmont, Italy
96 Points, Wine Advocate
The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà shows excellent textural richness with dark fruit, followed by notes of tobacco and tilled earth. Black truffle and dried fruit converge on the bouquet to add to the intensity. You really appreciate the freshness and sheer power of this succulent, well-structured and medium to full-bodied Barbaresco. This one's the real deal.
$74.99/bottle (3 bottles)

Beringer Knights Valley Reserve Cabernet 2015
Sonoma County, California
93 Points Vinous
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a selection of the best blocks and barrels in Beringer's Knights Valley property. Dark cherry, raspberry, espresso, graphite, incense and dried flowers are all fused together in this decidedly ample, voluptuous Cabernet. Here, too, the 2015 is more fruit-driven and less savory than it typically is. Even so, there is plenty to like.
Sale $59.99/bottle
Reg. $69.99/bottle

Mt Brave Cabernet 2015
Napa Valley, California
96 Points Wine Advocate
Composed of 87.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec and 1.5% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder gives up notions of crème de cassis, violets, baker's chocolate, licorice and yeast extract with a touch of beef drippings. Full-bodied, concentrated and wonderfully expressive, the palate gives lovely ripe tannins and great freshness, finishing long and earthy.
Sale $69.99/bottle
Reg. $89.99/bottle

Watch The Leaves Change With Wine, Craft Beer & Spirits From 1010 Washington Wine & Spirits in Downtown Minneapolis

We have been enjoying weather that’s much more like the middle of June than it is like the middle of September. If, however, you are old enough to be shopping at 1010 Washington Wine & Spirits, you know that this is only a temporary reprieve as fall is here NOW! The days are getting shorter and the leaves are already beginning to turn. Enjoy the warm weather because it cannot last!

Hopefully not for the last time, make us your first stop when planning your late Summer (weather-wise, anyway) or early Fall picnic, barbecue, or any other outside activity. We would like to be your first stop for your indoor dinner party, football watching event, or, dare I say it(?) watching the Twins play in the post-season. Let’s face it, we would like to be your first and last stop for all your adult beverage needs now, as the seasons are about to change, and going forward.

We are constantly on the lookout for the newest, the best and the most interesting wines, spirits and craft beers available to us. You can rest assured that one of us, at least, has tasted almost every product in the store or it wouldn’t be in the store. This is important because when you ask for a recommendation, you are entitled to know that the person who makes it has actually tasted the product. It may be more important to know that we “love all of our children” although perhaps not equally when it comes to making suggestions about what to drink. We stand behind whatever YOU pick because WE picked it first!

We think some of you may have missed the boat on the Louis/Dressner Portfolio Wine Tasting. Carl really knew his stuff and more importantly, the wines were outstanding! I am not going to belabor the point , but we really think you should take advantage of the Dreyfus Ashby wine tasting next month on October 22nd. This event is going to be a very interesting comparison of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Burgundy AND Oregon, all produced by the same company….Joseph Drouhin. Plus a few other excellent goodies like Champagne, Bordeaux and Napa Valley Cabernet. If you ever wondered about the effects of terroir, this event should help with your thinking. It is going to be GREAT FUN! As usual, the event will be a the Aloft Hotel starting at 6:30. Call us at (612)339-4040 or drop us an email at info@1010wws.com to secure your reservation. As always, the cost of admission is $25.00 but it will be refunded against purchases made at the tasting.

Enjoy the weather. Enjoy the Twins drive to the playoffs! Celebrate life’s little victories…with us! We are so thankful to have you as friends and customers! Thanks for reading this!

Bollinger La Grand Annee Brut 2008
Champagne, France
97 Points Wine Advocate

Bollinger's 2008 La Grande Année is superb, wafting from the glass with aromas of crisp orchard fruit, ripe lemons, honeycomb, warm biscuits, dried white flowers and a delicate top note of walnuts and fino sherry. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and vinous, with a beautifully refined mousse, superb concentration at the tightly wound core, incisive acids and a supremely elegant intermingling of Bollinger's oxidative stylistic signatures with fresh, vibrant fruit. The finish is long, precise and chalky. This is a Grande Année built for the cellar—the real excitement will come with a bit more bottle age—but this is already a thrilling Champagne in the making.

Make 1010 Washington Wine & Spirits Your Downtown Minneapolis Destination For Autumnal Adult Beverages!

With Labor Day in the rearview mirror, it is time to look forward to the last third of 2019. For the moment, at least, the Twins seem to be a lock for the post season, the Vikings and Gophers are undefeated and anticipating successful seasons. The Lynx have clinched a playoff spot and Minnesota United is playing exciting soccer. There’s high school football every Friday night for the next couple of months…and the weather is still good enough to enjoy spectator sports as well as getting out for a round of golf or just a nice Autumn walk or bike ride.

Yes, September and October can be as good as it gets in Minnesota! Before you know it, there will be a crispness in the air that has been missing for awhile and we will all find that we are craving hearty meals... perhaps fewer summer salads and more spicy soups and stews. Many of you are going to be entertaining at pregame tailgating parties, as well as dinner parties and brunches.

Wait for it!!!

Here’s my lead in…for ALL these late Summer and early Autumn events, please remember to visit us at 1010 Washington Wine & Spirits in downtown Minneapolis and let us help you find the perfect adult beverages to complement your dining, entertaining and leisure time activities! As usual, we have a vast and ever changing selection of tasty and interesting wines, spirits, craft beers and don’t let me forget Hard Seltzers to excite your palate as well as your thirst for what’s new and fun!

THIS Thursday September 12 from 5-7pm we will be tasting the Iberian Peninsula wines from Ole’ Imports with the Midwest Regional Manager Erin Drain! We suspect that this tasting will be just as much fun as the special Thursday tasting we had last week. We are offering a special discount for this tasting only. There will be a 10% discount for purchases of 6 bottles and 20% should you buy a case or more! These guys are one of our favorite sources for both Spanish and Portuguese wines. Mark this on your calendar…it is going to be a terrific tasting!

We also have scheduled TWO outstanding tastings in the next six weeks at the Aloft Hotel. September 18th, Carl Moberg will guide us through a selection of small lot, mostly organic wines from Italy, France, and Germany all imported by Louis/Dressner.

Then, on October 22nd, Paul Brown from Dreyfus-Ashby is conducting what should be an exciting tasting of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Burgundy and Oregon plus some other French standards, Bordeaux and Champagne! We think you will find that this is not a competition, but an exposition of how terroir affects taste. Both tastings begin at 6:30 PM. The cost of a ticket is $25.00 which can be refunded by the purchase of wines from the tasting. You can reserve your place by contacting us online at info@1010wws.com or by telephone at (612) 339-4040.

Of course, we hope you will also join us for our in store tastings every Friday and Saturday, beginning at 2PM and lasting til 7:00PM. Subscribe to our newsletter at the bottom of this page, or keep an eye on our Events page, to see what we will be tasting every weekend!

As always, it is a pleasure to serve you! Thank you for your friendship. Thank you for your custom. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Wednesday Whiskey & Wine Specials For A Short Week in Downtown Minneapolis!

After a holiday weekend, it can be difficult to remember whether we are at the beginning, middle or end of the week at any given time.

This feeling of weekday confusion can make it nearly impossible to decide whether it’s time for a lighter white wine, more robust red wine or even a more refined and elegant whiskey.  Fortunately, we have great prices on all three in our downtown Minneapolis store as we speak!

See our list of whiskey and wine specials going on now in the list below - and remember to subscribe to our newsletter at the bottom of this page - or keep an eye on our Events page to see what we will be tasting in our store this weekend!

Wine Specials
Beaucastel Coudoulet 2017

Rhone, France
(91-93) Points Wine Advocate

Tasted as a representative sample that was blended from several foundres, the 2017 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel looks to be another sensational example of this wine. Sourced just outside the Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation, it’s full-bodied yet silky and long, with standout aromas of lavender and crushed stone backed by layers of cherry and berry fruit.
Sale  $29.99/bottle
Reg.  $39.99/bottle

Allegrini Palazzo della Torre 2014
Veneto, Italy
93 Points James Suckling

What a delicious nose of brambleberries, vanilla, mocha-scented oak, spice box, plum liqueur, licorice and milk chocolate. Full-bodied and rich with plenty of dense fruit and fresh acidity that carries this to a long finish. Almost verges on too much but pulls back.
Sale  $14.99/bottle
Reg.  $22.99/bottle

Altos Las Hormigas Malbec 2017
Mendoza, Argentina
92 Points, Tim Atkin

Altos’ “classic” Malbec marries fruit from Medrano and the Uco Valley and, in keeping with the winery’s philosophy on its cheaper wines, is entirely unoaked. Aromatic and refined, with lovely minerality and dark cherry and blackberry fruit. 2019-25
Sale  $11.99/bottle
Reg.  $13.99/bottle

Canoe Ridge The Explorer Red Blend 2015
Columbia Valley, Washington
91 Points Wine Spectator

Expressive and well-built, with lively blackberry, smoky pepper and anise flavors that build toward big but refined tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
Sale $19.99/bottle
Reg.  $24.99/bottle

Pinyolet Garnacha 2017
Montsant, Spain
This shows all the big, ripe black cherry and brambly raspberry fruit aromas we love from Garnacha, along with the trademark fresh-cracked black pepper spice.  It’s a sweet delicious joy on the palate, oozing concentrated kirsch liqueur fruit, and showing lovely wild herb and garrigue spices, lavender, and anise flavors…complexity that I’ve not encountered in other Spanish Garnachas at this price, ever.
Sale  $13.99/bottle
Reg.  $15.99/bottle

Macrostie Chardonnay 2016
Sonoma Coast, Califronia
92 Points Wine Advocate
The 2016 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay offers a great intensity of fresh, pure apple and white peach aromas with hints of baker's yeast and allspice plus a waft of honeysuckle. Medium to full-bodied and delivering mouth-filling stone fruit and spice flavors, it has a satiny texture and great length. Totally over-delivers at this price point!
Sale  $18.99/bottle
Reg.  $24.99/bottle

Chateau Puech-Haut Prestige 2015
Languedoc, France
93 Points Wine Advocate

The 2015 Saint Drezery Prestige is a ripe, sexy beauty that gives up full-bodied notes of black cherries, melted licorice and roasted herbs. Like all the wines from this estate, it has lots of richness and texture, yet stays balanced, lively and pure. It's a year in and year out value that's a no-brainer purchase. It will drink beautifully over the coming 4-5 years (possibly even longer).
Sale  $19.99/bottle
Reg.  $21.99/bottle

Wine Cellar Selections!!!!
Bella Union Cabernet 2016
Napa Valley, California
The 2016 Bella Union opens with inviting aromas of black cherry, dark plum, blueberry, and cassis with intimations of warm oak, vanilla, and baking spices. Expansive, fruit-forward plum, black cherry, and blueberry flavors coat the midpalate, followed by notes of toasted oak, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Supple tannins and bright acidity pave the way to a mouthwatering finish.
Sale  $59.99/bottle
Reg.  $79.99/bottle

Penfolds Bin 389 Shiraz-Cabernet 2016
South Australia, Australia
92 Points Wine Spectator

Your Downtown Minneapolis Craft Beer, Wine & Spirits Destination For The Busy Final Weeks of Summer

There is no excuse for any of us to sit home alone and be bored these next two weeks! Look at just a short list of what is going on around Minneapolis and throughout Minnesota:

• The State Fair runs through Labor Day.

• The Minnesota Twins are having the most exciting season in years, hopefully culminating in some late October games….with a threat of snow?

• College Football begins with the first game next Thursday night at TCF Bank Stadium.

• The Vikings season is not far behind, with their first game on September 8th.

• School starts. That’s back to work for our kids….and a bit of vacation for parents!

In addition, don’t forget that we are coming into the best weather of the year, with cooler temperatures, lower humidity and blue skies, so there are countless opportunities for outdoor adventures.

Forgive me for leaving out the myriad of cultural opportunities that abound in the Twin Cities (if you haven’t yet seen the “Heart of Our Peoples” exhibit at MIA, make sure that you do!). Having said that, our neighbor, The Tyrone Guthrie Theater is about to begin its Fall Season in just a few weeks.

Each and every one of these events is just another occasion for you to come see us at 1010 Washington Wine & Spirits to select the perfect craft beer, wine or spirit to enjoy before, during or after whatever YOU choose to participate in. As we indicated above, the kids going back to school certainly calls for a celebratory glass or two of champagne.

We also hope you joint us for more of our craft beer, wine and spirits tastings that we host in our downtown Minneapolis store every Friday and Saturday.

There are so many interesting new craft beers, wines or spirits available, it seems almost criminal to drink the same things over and over…not necessarily because we like them so much, but because they are “safe”. Come to our tastings and take the opportunity to explore new flavors without too much commitment. There is no telling what discoveries you might make! Our tastings run from 2PM til 7 PM every Friday and Saturday.

OK…thanks for reading this! Enjoy the end of August and beginning of September. Have a great time at the Fair! Come see us! We are here for YOU!

Find Late Summer’s Best Selection of Wine, Spirits & Craft Beer at 1010 Washington Wine & Spirits In Downtown Minneapolis!

We seem to have an ongoing theme of time flying by…

That is because we want YOU to be aware of the passing of days and that life is to be savored and enjoyed. With all the hustle to and fro, there has to be time set aside to enjoy life.

This is self-interest of course, because nothing speaks better to a life well lived and total enjoyment than a perfect glass of wine with a great meal, a cold craft beer on a warm summer’s day, or that perfect dram of scotch, bourbon, cognac or rum at the end of a long day. We will not allow that last sentence to pass without saying that we think the best place to shop for these elixirs of a wonderful life is, of course, 1010 Washington Wine & Spirits in downtown Minneapolis.

As for time flying….the next time we send out this little newsletter will be Opening Day for the Minnesota State Fair!! Football season and snowfall cannot be far behind. We say this only to encourage you to take advantage of our beautiful Minnesota Summer before it fades into memory…and yes, we would love to help you find the perfect adult beverage for your late summer outing.

Let me repeat myself from the last note we shared with you.

We like to think that 1010 Washington Wine & Spirits has one of the most carefully curated selections of wines, spirits, craft beers and yes….hard seltzers that you will find in a store our size anywhere in either Minneapolis or all of Minnesota. To add to that statement, we would say that some of the best stores in the whole country are right here in Minnesota. Wine and Spirit outlets in Minnesota HAVE to be good! By law, that is what we sell. We are specialists, devoting full time to finding the newest and the best, most delicious beverages we can. It is a good thing too, because YOU are the best educated, best traveled, most affluent consumers in the world. We like to think that we have to devote our efforts to keeping up with you and expanding your choices along with your horizons.

That whole riff is a preamble to thanking you for your business…and asking again that you take advantage of the selection we offer. What’s fun about being an American consumer, besides all the patriotic responses, is that you have the best selections available to any consumer in the world. Almost everything we sell is made to make your life more enjoyable. It all tastes good….or we don’t put it in the store. If it isn’t good, we stand behind every product we sell. Please take advantage of us!

I had better stop…

Thanks for everything. Thanks for reading this!

Great Wine Sale Specials From Our Shelf or Cellar!

As a provider of fine wine, craft beer and spirits in downtown Minneapolis, it’s most common for us to see crowds start to roll in at the end of the workday on Friday. (Attracted by our in-store tastings that happen every weekend, no doubt!)

But, truthfully, you can stop in just about any day of the week for great specials. In fact, if you stop in before the weekend rush, we just may have some more time to help you find that perfect selection.

See our list below for some great wine specials this week, both from our shelf and the cellar. Stop in before the weekend and we’ll help you stock up!

Chateau Gassier Esprit Rose 2018
Provence, France
90 Points Wine Enthusiast
This wine is the heart of the production from this estate. The blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Vermentino creates a wonderful freshness, while also showing richness and a touch of spice. It is intensely fruity and ready to drink now.
Sale $17.99/bottle
Reg. $20.99/bottle

Gulfi Valcanziria 2018
Sicily, Italy

Sale $17.99/bottle
Reg. $21.99/bottle

Gulfi Rossobleo 2018
Sicily, Italy
Rossojbleo by Gulfi is a fresh, fruity and fragrant Sicilian red wine from Nero d'Avola grapes from Monti Iblei, vinified only in steel tanks. It smells like red fruits, flowers, orange zest and Mediterranean scrub. The flavor is fresh, subtle, fruity, smooth, pleasant and easy drinking.
Sale $17.99/bottle
Reg. $21.99/bottle

Marques de Murrieta Rioja Reserva 2014
Rioja, Spain
93 Points Wine Advocate
The blend of the 2014 Rioja Reserva is very similar to the 2013, 84% Tempranillo with 9% Graciano, 5% Mazuelo and 2% Garnacha. The nose is subtle and very harmonious, with aromas of red cherries and some aromatic herbs. The palate is soft, it has a velvety texture with polished, round tannins, and there is a subtlety and harmony that is laudable.
Sale $22.99/bottle
Reg. $29.99/bottle

Roederer Estate Brut NV
Mendocino, California
92 Points Wine Spectator
The fruit flavors are apparent, fresh and lively in this medium-bodied, beautifully balanced brut. Light pear and pineapple aromas are followed by richer pear and citrus flavors, and subtle hints of baking spices, almonds and a nice earthy touch emerge.
Sale $22.99/bottle
Reg. $27.99/bottle

Chateau Yvonne 'La Folie' Saumur-Champigny 2017
Loire Valley, France
Biodynamically farmed and certified organic. 100% Cabernet Franc. La Folie comes from plots in the village of Champigny itself with vines ranging from 15-50 years in age. Clay and limestone soils. Hand-harvested. Being richer than "Quatre Sous", but less tannic than the village Saumur-Champigny makes the La Folie the most versatile of Yvonne's reds, and maybe the best bang-for-buck, too.
Sale $31.99/bottle
Reg. $34.99/bottle

CELLAR SELECTIONS!

Castello di Volpaia Chianti Classico Riserva 2016
Tuscany, Italy
94 Points James Suckling
There’s a plethora of intense fruit here, from dark cherries and brambleberries to lifted orange rind, citrus and so much sage and lavender. Full-bodied and very layered with a wall of structured tannin and a medium-long finish. From organically grown grapes.
Sale $32.99/bottle
Reg. $37.99/bottle

Chateau Yvonne Saumur Blanc 2016
Loire Valley, France

No surprises here, the Yvonne Blanc is drop dead gorgeous Chenin. Imagine crispy and crystalized tree fruit infused with flecks of flint, chalk, and Burgundian mineral. At least in its youth, this is a wine that's right there with Foucault renditions of Saumur Blanc. I'm thrilled to tuck away a few bottles myself and watch magic happen. This is a wine that I seriously doubt will even begin to fade in the decade or two. Liquid magic from the hand of Mattieau Valle. Extremely rare and precious.
Sale $54.99/bottle
Reg. $59.99/bottle

Groth Cabernet 2013
Napa Valley, California
93 Points James Suckling
Subtle and complex with mint, black currant and licorice aromas. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a fresh finish. Clean and refined. A delicious cabernet to drink now or later. Yes.
Sale $49.99/bottle
Reg. $59.99/bottle
