If your mom is anything like ours, they would love nothing more on their special day than a nice bottle of wine, to either open immediately or save for a special occasion. And speaking of saving, she would also hope that you did not spend too much on that special bottle for her! Fortunately, we are here to help you out.
See the wine we have on special this week, any one of which would make a perfect and reasonably priced gift.
Miraflors Blanc 2017
90 Points Jeb Dunnuck
The 2017 Miraflors Blanc is a blend of 40% Muscat d’Alexandrie, 20% Vermentino, 15% Grenache Blanc, and the rest Viognier, Sauvignon, and Grenache Gris. This juicy, delicious and fruit forward beauty offer loads of peach and citrus aromas, hints of flowers, medium-bodied richness, and a clean, juicy, vibrant texture. It’s going to be hard to beat as a summer white.
Domaine La Blaque Rose 2018
Very light orange-pink. High-pitched, mineral-tinged strawberry, tangerine and floral scents show very good clarity and a spicy touch of white pepper. Dry, nervy and precise, displaying real tension to the bitter berry skin and orange zest flavors. Utterly fat-free, finishing stony and tight, with a suave echo of honeysuckle lingering. Limited.
Domaine du Peyrie Malbec 2014
Rich and aromatic, this wine is marked on the nose by black fruits (blackcurrant, blueberry) and red (cherry) that support spicy notes. The palate, full and fleshy, combines smoothness and freshness. A balanced wine. Perfect for the grill.
Vallana Campi Raudii 2016
Our favorite Nebbiolo based blend is back! Campi Raudii is a Nebbiolo based cuvee (90% Nebbiolo with Uva Rara and Vespolina). The palate shows dense rich black cherry fruit with mineral and fine tannin. Try this robust red with lamb.
Jean-Paul Brun L'Ancien 2017
92 Points Wine Advocate
From vines that are more than 40 years old, the 2017 Beaujolais l’Ancien offers up a classy bouquet of sweet cherries, licorice and savory bass notes. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with supple and fine-grained but youthfully chewy structuring tannins and a long, sapid finish. It’s a superb wine that would embarrass many cru Beaujolais.
Chermette Moulin a Vent 2017
95 Points Wine Advocate
The 2017 Moulin-à-Vent Les Trois Roches is superb—and likely the king of the cellar chez Chermette this year—wafting from the glass with a beautiful bouquet of raspberries, potpourri, orange rind and rose petal. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, layered and supple, with the most depth and amplitude of any wine in the portfolio and the most held in reserve, too. This is a fantastic expression of Moulin-à-Vent from one of Beaujolais’s greatest winemakers, and it comes warmly recommended.
Carpineto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2013
95 Points Wine Spectator
The stunning bouquet of ripe black cherry, black currant, leather and woodsy spice notes is enticing, while the sweet fruit is a match for the dense structure. The lengthy finish lingers, with tobacco, eucalyptus and iron accents. Drink now through 2030.
Maison de Grand Esprit L'Etre Magique Cremant NV
90 Points James Suckling
A fresh and bright sparkling wine with apple and cream aromas and flavors. Hints of yogurt. Full body, pretty bubbles and a flavorful finish. Blend of 60% chardonnay, 20% pinot noir and 20% gamay. A fun and lively sparkling wine.
