Grgich Hills Judgment at Paris Tasting

On May 24, 1976, arguably the most important wine tasting in the history of the American Wine Industry was conducted at the Intercontinental Hotel in Paris.  That afternoon, some of the most prestigious winemakers and restauranteurs in France tasted six California Chardonnays and four of the best White Burgundies as well as six California Cabernet Sauvignons against four classified Chateaux from Bordeaux.
The results rocked the wine world!  Both categories were won by entrants from California.  Chateau MontelenaChardonnay, 1973 and Stag’s Leap Cabernet Sauvignon, 1973.
This year marks the fortieth anniversary of this historic event.  We have a very special event planned at 1010 Washington Wine & Spirits!
The winemaker at Chateau Montelena who made the winning Chardonnay was Mijlienko “Mike” Grgich.  Soon after the Judgment at Paris, Grgich partnered up with Austin Hills (of the Hills Brothers Coffee family) to open Grgich Hills Winery.
We are very excited to announce that on May 25, 2016 we will be hosting Sean Barrett, Midwest Sales Manager for Grgich Hills for a tasting of their equally famous, outstanding wines at the Aloft Hotel.  The tasting will be from 6:30 PM til 8:30 PM.
We think that this is going to be a VERY special tasting and we hope that you will join us.  Please RSVP to info@wws.com or call us at (612)339-4040.  The cost of the tasting will be $25.00, but, as always, the cost of the ticket will be refunded against any purchase.
